Here at Brunel we pride ourselves on providing a positive work place as well as providing equal opportunities.
We are delighted to celebrate the women we have working with us and first up we are thrilled to welcome Lauren Walke, who joins our team as our newest HGV driver.
You wouldn’t believe it if you saw her driving, but Lauren only passed her HGV test in November 2021 after leaving her office job during lockdown. Lauren is not one to shy away from hard work and her fiancé proved a huge influence when she first decided that she wanted to take her HGV. She loves to prove that ‘this girl can’ and we love that too so Welcome to the team Lauren!
Next, we have Ann Burdon our Office Manager. Ann has been working with us for 5 years and we don’t know where we would be without her! Her calmness and professionalism as well as being able to think on her feet makes her invaluable to the company. She certainly knows how to deal with a tantrum or two!!
Our camera shy New Business and Customer relations, Jude Orr, is also a solid foundation in the office. Having been with us for just over a year now, Jude has slotted into the office like she has always been with us. Jude has taken over all new and existing customer relations and ensures that the high standards we hold ourselves too is maintained. So thank you Jude!
Lastly, we have the ‘dynamic duo’ Nadine & Eleanor Venables, Nadine heads up operations within the company and Ellie the Finance.
Nadine joined the company after marrying MD, Brian in 2016 and now there is not a stone left unturned that she does not know about. Her knowledge and understanding of the industry is second to none, and she plays a huge part in the development and growth within Brunel.
Ellie is on the final leg of her ACCA studies in Accountancy, where she is also on course to gain a masters from Oxford Brookes University. Ellie is constantly refining her skills and her upbeat and positive attitude is refreshing within an industry that can sometimes prove to be rocky (excuse the pun). Ellie, also hopes to gain her HGV licence in the not-too-distant future.
Together these women are proving that Construction is an industry not just for men, but somewhere where woman can feel at home and develop themselves.
Here’s to more women in Construction!
